ECS is experienced in all areas of landfill assessment, engineering, and management.  Our professionals have conducted environmental assessments of landfills ranging from preliminary assessments (including thorough historical research conducted for the USEPA) to comprehensive hydrogeologic investigations.  Our experience includes:

• The assessment of leachate migration potential through porous and fractured media
• The evaluation of the impact of groundwater contaminated by leachate to wetlands and other surface water bodies
• The use of geophysical methods to characterize subsurface conditions
• The use of computer simulation of groundwater flow and contaminant transport to evaluate the potential for leachate migration

ECS’ landfill assessment capabilities are complemented by our solid waste engineering and management experience.  ECS professionals are experienced in designing and successfully permitting expansions of several large landfills.  Our experience includes the preparation of design plans for liners and caps, methane venting systems, and operation and maintenance plans.  ECS’ engineering and management experience is supported by personnel experienced in performing field inspections of landfill conditions and supervision of landfill construction, operation and closure activities.
