Customer Service = Client Satisfaction
Last month, 658 client satisfaction surveys were mailed to anyone who was invoiced $1,000 or more during 2009. The survey was a two-page document consisting of questions about how well ECS understands a client’s needs, how professional our staff are, how our invoicing system fares, etc. Clients also had the opportunity to check off boxes asking us to send them information on our training, eclipse and energy services. Finally, there was space at the end of the survey for clients to hand-write any additional comments they wanted to share. So, what did our clients say?

  • “I am very pleased with everyone I have worked with - Steve Low, and especially Monica Blair. The testing will continue for a few more years and I am always informed of what they are doing.”

Florence-based Venture Wants to Warm Potential Clients to the Virtues of Geothermal Systems

Geothermal energy, or power extracted from the heat stored in the earth, has been around for centuries, but it remains a largely unknown commodity among most home and business owners. A Florence-based venture called Terraclime is trying to change all that, and is using some impressive numbers concerning the efficiency of geothermal systems to turn some heads. In the meantime, it wants to take its laboratory-like operation in an old mill, where several geothermal systems are being tested and evaluated, and use it to help train and cultivate a workforce.

Sam Johnson calls them the Geo Team (or G-Team) Seniors, and says an AARP card is a prerequisite for becoming one. And he’s not kidding. These older, quasi-retired individuals are on the front lines of an effort to take geothermal energy harvesting mainstream — or at least much more mainstream than it is at present. They are the designers and installers of systems handled by a growing Florence-based venture called Terraclime Geothermal, a division of Environmental Compliance Services Inc. (ECS). READ MORE >

INVENTORY CHALLENGES - By Joel Hershey (Published in PEI Journal) - May 2009

Since the beginning of retail gasoline facilities in the United States, petroleum marketers haves struggled to keep close tabs on all aspects of their petroleum inventory – not only is in their tanks, but also what is at the racks, what is being transported and delivered, and ultimately what gets dispensed or sold to the consumer. So why is inventory so difficult to track? One would think it’s just simple math, but it’s not that easy. There are several challenges to obtaining good inventory information. Helping your customer understand and overcome them will make you a valued partner.

STICK READING
Beginning with data acquisition, many marketers determine how much products they have in their current inventory by sticking or gauging their tanks. This typically is done by the store clerk who “sticks” the tank daily with a dipstick and hopes the readings are accurate because he or she is using a good stick and is consistently reading to within one-eighth of an inch for recording purposes. If the stick is slightly bent from one reading to the other, a discrepancy will occur. Factor in the possibility of different store personnel performing this task, inclement weather (Have you ever tried to stick a tank when it’s raining out?) or the possible use of the wrong tank charts, and the store owner is left with the start of a problem that contributes to the slippery slope of inaccurate inventory measurement.
